Week 13

This week we have been assessing what we have left to complete. All the units are in the game and animated so Kiril is going to be doing a final polish pass on all of them. This week he polished the pig!

We are working on clean up the UI so we can show off the rest of the menus. We will be showing that off next week. For now enjoy these new gifs.

Week -12 The Wulver

Hey Everyone! This is the final of our 41 units, The wulver. This week is a short post because we will be changing gears and getting into UI, Equipment, Buildings, and generally other aspect of the game. There will be a lot more different content going up soon!

Week - 11

Sorry Guys we are late 1 day we had a bit of hold up on finishing up the unit this week. Anyway Here is the Banshee! She debuffs a units defense when she shoots them and this debuff stacks. We are still deciding on how long the debuff lasts for balance purposes.

The Banshee works very well with a high damage high attack speed unit like the Blade Maiden.

This week we also added a skill that gives you a perfectly accurate shot that always critical hits whenever you manually target a unit. The skill also puts a trail render on the special projectile.

Week - 10

This week we created William Wallace! His ability is to bring to units with him when moved. This is extremely useful for kiting enemies.

His switching ability can also be used up against an enemy line to throw units backward like so.

Week - 9 The Hag

Hello Everyone! This week we have added The Hag to Raven's Path! The Hag Heals In a half circle in front of her. This can be very useful with high damaging light armor units like the blade maiden.

With Multiple Hags It is easy to maintain your armies health.

We also began Prototyping the end of the game. Things can get very difficult when you have to fight 10 Dragons.

Week - 8 Rock Thrower & Trebuchet

Hey everyone! Sorry we missed a week of the dev log we were all on vacation for the 4th! However we did create content that week so this time we have two units to show instead of one. Here are the Rock Thrower & Trebuchet!

The Rock Thrower Deals Splash Dmg to the units on the sides of the one it hits.

He can easily be countered with a strong melee front line.

Here are our most polished units so far!

Week - 6 Spear Woman and Freeze Frames

This week we worked on adding freeze frames to the units attacks to make it look more satisfying when they land hits. We also replaced the shadows with proper pixel art shadows.

KzP also added the spear woman unit to the game. She is extremely useful because she can hit the two spaces in front of her dealing half damage to the first space and full damage to the second. This enables her to hit healers for example.

She can also kite melee units and avoid taking any damage at all in certain situations.

Week 5 - The Battering Ram

Hey everyone this week we have fixed several graphical issues. Units now slide across the field when they are moved, and we fixed the offset of the enemies shadows. We also added a new unit. The Battering Ram! This unit does not attack automatically. It needs to be flicked into the unit in front of it. After that it goes on cool down for a short time. Its attack goes through a line of enemies dealing less damage with each enemy it jumps through.

Week 4 - Gate Smashing and Axe Man Cleave

Hey guys We have a little extra to show this week! We have been working on this gate smashing effect for two weeks now. This effect allows us to change scenes during combat in a really visually fun way.

KzP also created a cleave effect for the axeman this week. He has a twitter for his art now so check it out!

Week 3 - Richard the Lionheart

Hello everyone! This week KzP has been working on a unit called Richard the Lionheart. This unit gains a small amount of defense for the entire round every time he defeats someone. I have also started working on some of the backgrounds from the game. Here is one I was working on this week.

Week 2 - The Blade Maiden

Hello Everyone! This week we have been working on buildings. I am currently at work on a building that allows you to draft units and items. After you draft you fight with them until you lose. You receive rewards based on how far you were able to get before you lost. This allows you to play with a temporary army and its a nice change up from the usual game play.

Here are a few animations from the Blade Maiden unit KZP has been working on this week.

 The Blade Maiden has the highest attack speed in the game, and she also has a good critical chance, however she has very low health and no armor. This unit can become an extremely powerful damage dealer if she is equipped with the right weapons. This is a common rarity unit.

UI Design and Bishop Animations

Today we talked a lot about UI design. When working on anything user interface related it is important to display only information that is relevant to the player and to hide information that is not. For example, when a unit is at full health, we do not display their health bars. By doing this you minimize distractions and allow the player to focus only on the units that have been damaged. This, along with many other changes, have gone into the UI revamp.

We also added all of the animations of the Bishop unit. Each unit has front and back versions of the walk, attack, and death animations. Here are a couple of the Bishop animations.

Promoting Raven's Path

Day 1 of promotion Hasn't been great. I got banned from Reddit after posting 3 links in 2 hours and someone told me I'm spamming their sub Reddit.

There were a few helpful comments and one user on unity's forums told us we had fantastic pixel art.

Promotion is very hard, and it can make or break your game. Here is an extremely helpful article I found  about promoting an indie game.
